Impact Community -- June 5th!

          The Greensboro District is hosting an Impact Community event on Saturday, June 5. In fact every district in our conference is hosting such an event on that day. We are part of a pilot project of the General Board of Communications to impact our entire conference for Christ. The General Board of Communications will provide resources to advertise the many events we will host to fight hunger. 

           On June 5th there will be several activities that will need lots of volunteers. They will be:

            1. Two Meals for Learning sites where we will try to pack 60,000 meals to ship to the hungry children in Kenya.

            2. We will work with a number of grocery stores to collect staple food to replenish the shelves of various food pantries, especially the pantry at GUM, in time for the summer need.

            3.  A FREE carnival will be taking place at Smith High School for children attending Title 1 schools.  Information on summer feeding programs and on participating churches will be available. The families will then be invited to join the closing ceremony and lunch.

            Of course we will need a ton of volunteers to pull this off and truly impact the hungry around the world in a positive way. Also, we will need financial resources to pay for the thousands of meals.

          Finally, we want you to use this as an opportunity to invite your unchurched  friends or friends from other churches to participate.  To finish the day there will be a District wide celebration of all that God has done that day at Smith High School.
