District Superintendent   Dr. Frank (Duke) Ison Duke was born on February 18, 1948 in Charlotte, NC.  He is married to Vicki Elder since 1974. She is a guidance Counselor in the school system and before there worked for mental health. They have one child, Jenny Ison, born in 1979. Duke holds a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - 1970.  He spent one year at New College, the University of Edinburgh – 1970-1971, received his MTh from Perkins School of Theology, SMU – 1973,  and then his D. Min from Candler School of Theology, Emory University – 1985.  Duke was ordained Deacon in 1972 and Elder in 1974. He has served six appointments in the Western NC Conference The Rosman Charge – 1973-1975 (Asheville District) Associate Minister at Dilworth UMC – 1975-1983 (Charlotte District) Montmorenci UMC 1983-1988 (Asheville District) Weaverville UMC 1988-1994 (Asheville District) Huntersville UMC 1994-2000 (Charlotte District) Dilworth UMC 2000-2006 (Charlotte District) This is his seventh appointment and first time of being in Extension Ministry. Hobbies include – being an avid Carolina fan, jogging, and fly fishing. Duke and his wife have a place at Wolf Laurel in Madison County and love getting back to the mountains whenever they can.

Administrative Assistant Mrs. Annette Harper Annette grew up in the Guilford College area and is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro. She and her husband, Tim, have 3 children, ages 21, 16 and 8 years old. Annette has held positions with several United Methodist Churches as well as the North Carolina Conference UMC in Raleigh and comes to the district after serving for five years as office manger at Muir’s Chapel UMC, where she and her family are active members.
