District Superintendent
Dr. Frank (Duke) Ison
Duke was born on
February 18, 1948 in Charlotte, NC. He is married to Vicki Elder
since 1974. She is a guidance Counselor in the school system and before
there worked for mental health. They have one child, Jenny Ison, born in
1979.
Duke holds a BA in
Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - 1970.
He spent one year at New College, the University of Edinburgh –
1970-1971, received his MTh from Perkins School of Theology, SMU – 1973,
and then his D. Min from Candler School of Theology, Emory University –
1985. Duke was ordained Deacon in 1972 and Elder in 1974.
He has served six

This is his seventh
appointment and first time of being in Extension Ministry. Hobbies
include – being an avid Carolina fan, jogging, and fly fishing. Duke and
his wife have a place at Wolf Laurel in Madison County and love getting
back to the mountains whenever they can.
