Our Mission: Founded in 1983, UMAR’s mission is to promote community inclusion, independence and growth for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through residential, employment and cultural enrichment opportunities.
UMAR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and an agency and ministry of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Our 23 group homes and 6 apartments allow individuals to experience independent living in a home-like atmosphere.

The History of Bennett College
In 1873, Bennett College had its beginning in the unplastered basement of the Warnersville Methodist Episcopal Church (now known as St. Matthew’s Methodist Church). Seventy young men and women started elementary and secondary level studies. In 1874 the Freedmen’s Aid Society took over the school which remained under its auspices for 50 years.

Wesley-Luther is a United Methodist/Lutheran (ELCA) sponsored campus ministry at UNC-G that seeks to provide an environment in which college studetns can grow in faith through worship, study, fellowship, and service.
